THE 12:30 TO ST PANCRAS
22nd August 2022
Strood, England.
12:25 pm
MI5 Intelligence Officer Fianna Rose might have grown up in Strood in the south of England, but she had never liked it too much, and the sheer state of the train station only confirmed how much she didnât like it, and the train station alone reminded her why she hadnât been back here in over a decade.
Fianna used to love Strood as a kid before she grew up and realised how bad the town actually was. She used to love playing in the local theatre groups as a young girl, she loved having long romantic walks as a teenager with hot boys and she really loved hiking in the local woodland with her friends as they all tried to get away from the pressures of young love, family and school.
Fianna stood on a very wide concrete platform (the widest of the two platforms that made up the station) with a few electronic signs around her telling her and the tens of other people on the platform if the trains were on time or not (she was hardly surprised that all the trains were late), there was a reasonably large wooden shelter a few metres to her left that was meant to protect people against the rain but Fianna just knew from past experience that no one was brave enough to hide from the rain in that shelter as it was likely to collapse at any moment.
Across the platform was the main station that was a good-looking brown brick building that hadnât aged or changed too much over the decades that Fianna had been alive, and maybe that was a good thing.
At least there was one part of the station that wasnât broken, falling apart or looked so outdated that it was becoming an eyesore.
But Fianna could tell that the main station was definitely past its prime, and she was wondering how much longer would it still be about until the local government shut it, because it was costing more than it was producing.
The sheer amount of uproar it's shutting would cause be just funny to Fianna, but it would only be people overreacting since there was another station five minutes walk away in the next town over in Rochester.
Yet the state of the station was hardly Fiannaâs concern considering what she was up to today for Queen and country and the idiots in government.
Fianna liked listening to the young families talk about their plans for the day, young couples talked about what shows up in London they wanted to try and see, and other young men were just excited to go up to London and see what girls they could hook up with.
She might not have liked the train station too much, but Fianna had always enjoyed listening and watching and protecting the amazing people of the UK, they were always so friendly and kind unless you were foreign or poor, but Fianna didnât blame them for those bad attitudes.
Fianna only wanted to protect them.
